The petition must contain the information required by RSMo 452.310: each party's residence, marriage date and place, separation date, children's names and ages, pregnancy status, and last four digits of Social Security numbers. Missouri is no-fault. The ground is that the marriage is irretrievably broken.
A 30-day waiting period follows filing. Parents with minor children need a parent education program. Self-represented parties must complete the litigant awareness program under Missouri Supreme Court Rule 88.09. Ask the clerk about programs and fees.
Property division follows RSMo 452.330, which uses equitable distribution. The court weighs each spouse's financial circumstances, contributions to the marriage, and non-marital assets.
